Auger left in half-drilled hole overnight

Using amsoil for some time now, I told my neighbor early this season I had a pillow pack for him to try as I have been very satisfied with the result's. This morning he call's me to see if I have any gas, I offer him the pillow pack again...but he just want's to borrow my pre-mixed fuel because he only need's a tank full. Tonight he bring's back my gas tank and tell's me his 20yr old son ran out of gas yesterday while drilling a hole...so he just left the auger in the hole overnight...Well 3 big bucket's of hot water and 2 hour's later the auger was out, he never did tell me if the auger shaft was bent. I am still laughing as I write this topic because it is a poor example of "like Father like son".

Leaving the auger in the hole as a stand or other wise is one of the worst things you can do to the blades. it tweaks them out of the best cutting angles.

This actually happened at the Eelpout Fest a couple years ago. The people next to us left their auger in a half drilled hole overnight. Well someone took a bucket of water and decided to fill the hole with the auger in it. Needless to say, they couldn't get it out so they decided to charge $1 for auger rides. I guess it help pay for a new shaft.
