Pine Mountain Lake (Backus)

My buddy and I are going to be staying on Pine Mountain Jan 22-26. We will be fishing that lake mostly,along with maybe a half day up at Walker bay. Any one have any good suggestions of other lakes near the Backus area we should try out? We are coming up from Rochester, and bringing snowmobiles, so mobility shouldn't be an issue. I appreciate any ideas. Thanks, Tim

pine mountain is becoming a really good fishery, last season a couple buddies fished it and were getting trophy size crappies, in the 14-16" class! i thought at first they had drank to much beer! when they invited me i jumped on it. low and behold, they were telling the truth! one buddy actually pulled up a 16.5" while i was there!! to bad we didn't get pics, but he did get a really nice mount. i haven't heard anything recently though, as i lost touch with those guys since last spring. as for some other lakes, you can try pleasant, ten mile, birch. all in hackensack. try posting in the walker-hackensack-akley forum, you'll probably get a better response. good luck!!
