marine_man
Guys, I am surprised that I didn't hear the other obvious answer. Most older motors get a bit out of tune over time. The timing could have advanced, the idle mix could be off, the throttle linkage could be binding. A good point wastewater...Your motor should idle at 800 RPM in neutral and 600 in gear. The next trick is, do you have a tach on your boat so you can verify the idle speed?marine_man
wakeguy
Marine man has a good point. A tach will be important before you do anything including a prop change or idle adjustments. If the boat doesn't have a tach you can buy a "Tiny tach" for very little money. If you need a manual let me know and I can order one for you. I work at a marina in Shakopee. Otherwise I belive Marine man has access to them as well.
