Infrared heater question

Boar

Question

I have a glow warm three panel infrared, heater. Last year it worked great, this year it has trouble lighting, the piolet light wont stay on for one thing, it tackes awhile, when it dose stay on some times it wont run on one panel sometime it will. The biggest thing I notice is that it has a piolet light of about three inches an thats not right, Could it be a regulater? the heater has a regulater built in, do I need a rgulater near the tank itself? which I do cause the camper came with it inline where I hook up the tank, any info would be great Boar

It is the part on the end of gas line where the flame comes out for the pilot. If flame is yellow and long, the orfice( tiny hole where gas comes out) is partialy plugged. This can make for an unsafe condition with gasses, also LP could be backing up in the line causing a fire hazard. Flame should be blue and close to yhe thermocouple, thats what keeps the gas valve open and your pilot light lit. Most I have seen screw off the end of the line. Take it off, tap it on a hard surface, blow it out. Hold up to light source to confirm blockage is cleared. Install and check for gas leaks. Hint, in the offseason, cover orfice with a balloon or something to keep dust from settling in orfice.
