Another Lowrance networking question

When you have two units networked together, is it possible to read both sonars on one unit, or at least get the depth off of the other unit to show on your screen. I'm thinking this would be a real handy feature for keeping the boat on a break.

I want to say that you can show depth, but not the sonar screen. My units are networked but I have not tried it. I thought that I have read this somewhere but it could have been incorrect.

Maybe it only works when they are connected via the ethernet connection?

Are you talking about using two transducers, like bow and transom, on the same unit at the same time? The only way to do that is with a transducer switch, and it only allows you to use 1 transducer at a time.

Or, are you talking about having 2 sonars, and displaying the depth from sonar #2 on the screen for sonar #1, and vice versa. You should be able to do that if they are networked together, you would go into the Overlay Data screens and pull the depth from the other sonar. It would be a digital display, like 10.4 ft, not a sonar display.

Or, if you had 2 units connected via an ethernet cable, you could show the same sonar display on each unit .... but that would be from only 1 transducer.

I'm talking a trolling motor transducer (bow mounted sonar) and another transducer on the transom (console mounted sonar). Looking at both sonar readings at the same time (split screen) on either screen.

Now what is the difference between networking them or ethernetting them? The Lowrance site isn't real clear on what one does over the other.

What PerchJerker is saying is that with the regular LowranceNET NEMA connection you can overlay the digital depth on the screen. With ethernet you can actually see the sonar screen on the other graph.

With the LowranceNET configuration it wouldn't be split screen but rather the digital depth number displayed right on the main sonar screen which you can place anywhere on the screen just like any networked sensor such as water temp.

You can use either the LowranceNET connection that most people use (red or blue connectors), or if you have the yellow connectors on your graphs, ethernet.

Right. I don't think you can split the screen and show 2 separate sonar displays.
