Radio / Fan motor Interference question?

CrappiesNeyes

Question

My wheelhouse has the power wires for both the radio (car radio) and the furnace (forced air with a fan) running very close together inside the wall. Because of this, whenever the fan for the furnace is running, I can hear it in the radio. (very annoying) Is there any way I can insulate the radio from this? (With a resistor in the wire or something) The radio and speakers are built in so I really don't want to move them.

Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance. CNE

It may or may not be coming in on the power leads. Disconnect the antenna from the radio and see if it gets a bunch quieter.

There are, or at least used to be, in-line noise filters available at Radio Shack for the 12V leads. But, again, if it's coming from the antenna, that filter won't help.
