i use 25lb uncoated line, polomar knot onto a strong barrel swivel, then i add a 3 foot flourocarbon leader (20lb test) flourocarbon is almost invisible, so it helps ALOT in clear water (and anywater) for bigger and MORE pike (take the pike on my dp for example). and its very abrasion resistant, so there is a small risk of bite offs.

if the pike are aggressive i will add 2 colorado blades, 1 orange and 1 chartruse . each a different size. then tie on a gamakatsu circle hook or wide gap.

if the pike are getting finnicky i just tie on the hook to the leader and nothing else. then tie on a gamakatsu circle hook or wide gap.
