Water on top of the Ice?

Does water on top of the ice compromise it's strength? There will be alot of this if we keep getting snow. I have a few slush spots on my way out to my shack. There is 14 inches of ice when I checked(i checked in quite a few spots on the way out) This was a couple days ago. Now there is water on top. What will it do to the ice? Any ideas?

Depends....

If the water on the ice is freezing even at a slow rate, the ice should be stronger. I suppose the issue of honeycombed or weak ice could result from this surface water.

If the water on the ice isn't freezing, it is melting the ice.
