Coated vs uncoated tip up line

Pros and cons? I haven't used coated before, no complaints with uncoated except for occasionally you get a hook embedded in the line.

I haven't used coated line for years...when it's cold out that stuff is a nightmare. I realize un-coated line holds water and gets stiff when on the ice, but once it goes back in it's good to go again. Seems to me fishing with coated line is kind of like fishing with a slinkey

Coated all the way. No tangles, no hooks in the line and easier on the hands when they make the big run. Yeah its a little stiff out of the water. Not enough to make me go back to uncoated line.

never had a hook through un-coated line..knock on wood....I've used coated and will never use it again.
