I have the FL18 with a black plastic base, the battery indicator and the thing fits nicely in a 5 or 7 gallon bucket. That is all I need.

That being said I don't believe I catch more fish with the FL18 than I did for many years with a Clearwater Classic. It didn't have zoom or colors but I knew how to read it. You didn't need a battery indicator on that thing as it didn't use much battery. You could run it for a few days without needing to recharge.

Location is more important than which flasher you use and at times in clear or somewhat clear water using a camera (any camera that you can see your bait with) doesn't hurt either.
