Three Toed Woodpecker (no pix)

Just got back from a six day canoe trip into the BWCA (more on that on other threads later) but was excited to see my first three toed woodpecker. We had stopped for lunch on Hoe Lake, and it landed in a tree less that 15 feet from me. Of course the camera was 20 feet, so didn't get a shot but did get a great look at it!

I wish we had that species around here!

Come to think of it,I wish we had a lake called "Hoe" lake around here too!. Wait,maybe I don't.
