Catmendo
Yesterday, a massive storm system rolled over southern Manitoba, which included the Interlake region. By pure coincidence, I happened to out at Gimli (a resort community on the south western shores of Lake Winnipeg) when the system moved through. The air temperature took an incredible crash in a matter of seconds, by at least ten degree's! Watching the storm move closer and closer was an amazing site to behold, especially from the vantage point I had which was out on the outer sea-wall that protects Gimli's navigational harbor. Today, various local media outlets have announced that a total of seven minor tornados touched down as a result of this super system. No report of property of damage or personal injuries were reported...thankfully! As the storm moved closer, it became apparent that there was some serious potential for disaster. The view of the leading edge of the storm cell looking over the sea-wall. These are the flags flown on top of the Gimli Harbor flag mast. Notice how the colors jump out at you due to the dark sky in the background.
