nine-tiner
So I was out last weekend looking for sunnies in the shallows on a local lake. Didn't find ANY. Surface water temp on the locator was 62.5. What is the typical temp for spawning? closer to 65?
Wookiee
mid to high 60's for water temps. They should be around.
hamrej23
I caught some crappies in southern MN Today with eggs still in them
Wookiee
With the goofy weather we have been having some times they don't drop the eggs they just absorb them because of the conditions occurring at the correct water temp.
nine-tiner
Well I knew things were running late when I spoke with a customer located in Omaha Nebraska 2 weeks ago and they were fishing Crappies on the beds. It's looking like with this weeks temps things should get going. I remember a few years ago we hit a "4th of July" spawn on sunnies.
Scott M
a few consistent days of more than 65 should get the fish going, and they won't all spawn at once. The spawn should be on for the next few weeks.
ice-man/vexilar-king
74% today on the main lake. Still some with eggs as well.
