Abu Garcia Reel Problem

I have a baitcasting reel by Abu Garcia. I cant remember the model off hand. The problem I am having is if the reel sits for a day or two the drag gets all goofy and doesnt catch and acts like the drag is turned all the way loose. After 3 or for casts the drag resets itself. Anyone have this happen to them before, or have any suggestions.

how old is it? Is the reel stored with the drag tightened? If its an older reel and never has the drag loosened the drag washers could be compressed too much. I loosen the drags on my reels at the end of each trip.

It is 2 years old, and I usually loosen the drag on the reel, If I didnt loosen it all the way I made sure i didnt keep the drag in the same spot all the time. I did use the reel for river fishing from shore quite a bit last year, and thought that maybe some sand or dirt got in the reel.

Might have to just open the reel up and give it a clean. If the drag is an oil type, then a little oil is needed.

I think - Oil type drags, when just sitting around needs a little warm up to get it working.
