Scott M
The NBA and most major sports leagues are good at recycling coaches, but there seems to be a trend emerging in the NBA to hire former NBA guards.Michael Curry will be the new head coach in Detroit.Terry Porter will be the new head coach in Phoenixand rumor has it that Vinny Del Negro will be the new coach in Chicago.I guess it's not a new trend: Doc Rivers, Don Nelson, Scott Skiles, Byron Scott, Randy Wittman, Maurice Cheeks, Nate McMillan, and Reggie Theus were all NBA guards. Maybe the way to go is to NOT hire a former NBA guard. Only two current coaches have NBA championsips; Gregg Popovich who never played in the NBA, and Phil Jackson who played forward for the Knicks.
