Merc tiller shifting prob?

Have a 25 Merc. w/f-n-r, all in the handle. It does'nt go into reverse much of the time. Sometimes it is smooth as silk, then the next time wont go. Feels like something is binding up. Any ideas? Thanks.

It's out of adjustment, more than likely. The pully could also be loose. Pull the cover and watch the linkage and other moving parts for binding, etc. That one is kinda hard to instruct on how to re-adjust.

Thanks boatfixer, thats what I was thinking. I will check it out. Wi;; post when I figure it out or have someone else fix it.
