When should I start putting out my hummingbird feeders? Also what's a good recipe for the nectar?

No need for red dye. Four parts water to one part sugar is fine, although some use three parts water to one part sugar.

You can put it out right now. You could be seeing them near Hutchinson within a week, depending on weather. They don't need to wait for blooming flowers because hummers eat insects, too.

Here's a link to help you track the migration. You see them moving north faster along the Great Lakes because of the moderating influence those big bodies of water exert on weather.
