Garmin - Minnesota Lake Master Maps

The_Lee

Question

I own a Garmin 60CSX handheld GPS reciever and I am contemplating buying the Minnesota Lake Master map chip for my GPS. I am curious if anyone has used these maps or if you may know someone who has. I would like to know how good the maps are? I have looked at the HSOforum and they look like theyhave alot of good information on them.

I use the Minnesota Lakemaster in my Rino120 and like it. What you see in their viewer online is what you get. My version is a couple years old and I believe the newer version has even more maps in fine detail. When I'm on the water my GPS and my sonar match uncanningly close. Of course depth is relative. If your contour shows 15 feet you can bet your sonar will be right there too + or - differences resulting from transducer depth and lake level.

I just purchased the 2008 MN Lakemaster chip today...make sure it has product #: 108-308TO if you want the most recently updated one.

I'm looking on a brochure that came with the chip and it says it has the St. Croix River, Pierce, Mississippi River, Pool #4, Goodhue & Mississippi River Pool #8, Houston on it. These sections were surveyed by LakeMaster so it should be a ton better than some of the other smaller lakes that are basically a copy of the DNR map.

Total...there are supposed to be 130 ProMap (high-definition) lakes on it & 750 with lake contours. You can see the list of lakes on the Lakemaster HSOforum.

The best way to know if it has what you need is to visit Garmin's HSOforum and open the Lakemaster viewer. It's an online version of the software. You can browse for your lake or river of choice and see the detail online.
