LwnmwnMan2
I'm not sure this is the right part of the forum for this question, but here goes anyways.Does anyone here have any experience of using any type of dust control.I've got an industrial place that's got a gravel parking lot. They asked me if there's anything I can do to help with the dust control.I know the cities farther north of me use a magnesium chloride solution on the dirt roads in town. I figured that maybe with doing dirt infields and the such, that maybe someone here has had some success with a product I could research??Thanks. 0 Powerstroke
Mag chloride and calcium chloride are commonly used by public works for dust control on the dirt roads.
0 Hafnutz
You could also try putting down an overlay of asphalt millings. This is pretty cheap and will pack down to an asphalt like coating.
0 Jim Almquist
In Carlton county we contact them and they will put us on a list to have the mag. chloride put down on your road. The cost is around $110.00 for a 1000 feet and the cover both sides of the road.I tried to put cal. chloride down myself but it is a lot of work and did not cover as well for all the money I spent. 0 john.wells
I second the use of asphalt millings. There are a couple companies that deal with road resurfacing up here; one in Shafer, another in Hugo. Contact them for price/availability. It used to be they would practically give the stuff away, but things have changed with the price of crude. Still, it is by far the best thing you could do for the money. 0 setterguy
I have installed sprinklers along long dirt driveways just for the sole purpose of keeping the dust down. One building had trucks in and out all day and turned them on for 3-4 minutes 3-4 times a day. They have been pretty happy so far. Don't know if that helps any or not. Very good dust control. Many of my old neighbors use to use it when I lived in the country. Really settles the dust and almost nothing after the road is sprayed. 0 Powerstroke
This got me thinking about the places that contract for it. The kennel I trained my dog at lived on a road that was all gravel for about a mile. There were at least a dozen stretches of spray but not the entire thing and not every driveway. The owner said the neighbors who wanted it, organized a contract and have specific areas sprayed for a private contractor. It really helped. 0 muc33
I was told by one of my clients that they got soy oil and did it by their farm place and it worked great.
