Cat catching hours?

Both species will bite day or night. The typical best fishing hours for flatheads is usually right around sunset and a couple hours after.... but we get plenty of dinner time flats too. Channel cats tend to bite best early in the morning in the hot months, but I am too lazy to wake up so I take advantage of the action in the evening into the night.

I dont think there is an hour of the day or night that I havent caught both species. Best bite times seem to change from one week to the next besides the typical twilight hours.

Bait preference doesnt change day to night, but it can change day to day.

My best channel bite hands down has been the POWER hour. 1/2 hour before and after sunrise/sunset. Next in line is the 1/2 hour on each side of the POWER hour. Talkin both ice fishing and open water fishing. That's my take on channel cattin down in the SE section of the state.
