Outboard Year???

I have a Sea King 15 HP model #GG18734C and serial #36X878965. Can anyone tell me what year it is?

According to the chart, there wasn't a 15 HP Sea King with that model #. However, The GG18737A, GG18737B, GG18737C, and GG18737D were 15 HP units made in 1961,1961,1962, and 1962 respectively. 2 cyl manufactured by Gale Products (OMC)

Is it possible the model # tag is hard to read and you thought the 7 is really a 4????

It is possible that I read it wrong. I will go check it out. Thanks for the help, I am having a heck of a time finding this info out. Where did you find it?

I went and reread it and it is in fact GG18734C. The guy that I bought it from said he thought that is was a 62 so that sounds right. Thanks for your help.

Based on the serial number I'd say it's a 63. I had a 1962 3hp Sea King, and when I sent the model/serial # off to Twin City Outboard they told me on the older models the serial # started with the reverse digits of the year. (26X857001) on mine was 1962.
