hoggs222
I bought some of the 25, 36 & 72 count garden beds to start seeds. The plants are now ready to be transplanted to a larger container (20 oz. beer cup with dirt).Do I need to cut off any of the mesh-like outside of each plant so the roots can grow better? Or will the roots grow right through the mesh stuff?
Boogaard
I used those exact things and have grown quite a few things! If you plant some more in it go to menards they have a differnt kind of pot that is made with a different type of material to reduce mold growth works a lot better then the jiffy brand ones I think. I cut the outside off. be careful when you pull the outside off since the roots like to stick to it. I didnt transplant mine witht he roots started to come out the bottom or show through the pots. I took some styrofoam cups and transplanted them into there. I dont know what the deal is but my tomato plant leaves some look kinda yellow and they are folding under any suggestions? Good luck with the transplant
sparcebag
Boo do you have drainage holes in those styrofoam cups?Normally yellow is too much water.
Boogaard
yeah i just punched some in them with a utility knife or screw driver. They seem to be growing great. tomato plants are roughly 7-8 inches high....
