NorthernOutdoors
Hello everyone, I'm thinking about heading to northern MN to do some end of the winter lake trout fishing, and I need some help in preparation for the trip. I don't know much about lake trout so any tips on what kind of lures to use or what type of line (brand and lb. test) to get would be great. I've looked at a few lakes that are as deep as 100 feet. What depth would I want to start out at? Also, others have said to use minnnows or dried smelt for bait, and I'm curious about anyone's opinions on that. Any advice would be great. fishgutz77
Until we know what body of water your going to fish the info will be pretty generic. 10-12 #test line 30-70 fow and I use airplane jigs and buckshot rattle spoons mostly. I only use parts of minnows on the jigs for scent. good luck.
