The future of fishing rods/blanks

Well, technology is going to change things in a big way in the near future. How? Nanotech rods. Yep, just like the golf club shafts. They've made prototypes already. I haven't seen one, but a few of the guys I know talked with reps. at the National Rod Builders Show in NC. Affordability is the key. Boron rods were a huge advance but they could never get the costs down enough. We'll see what happens with Nanotech. If I hear more, I'll pass it on.

Funny you should say that, I read that there was a company in England experimenting with different fibers for fishing rods. It stuck out in my mind because they were having really good success with carrot fibers of all things.

Never say never. I'm sure the old timers figured it would be fiberglass heavy rods forever.
