The New School of Ice Fishing

I have used a flasher for many years now and enjoy the ability to know if I am sitting on the fish or not. If I don't see fish in one of my favorite holes I will move on. But one thing I noticed is that you can see the fish, and there may be many of them there, but there are still some times when they just won't bite no matter what you do. The last few times I was out, I started fishing in an area where I was alone. Know one even close to me. Fishing was good. It was about half an hour before others began to set up close to where I was. Trucks driving around, augers running, truck radios blaring, one guy was even pulling a portable fish house around behind his truck for some reason and never did go inside it to fish. He just pulled it around my fish house and then went and sat outside a little way away and fished. I noticed that the more commotion on the ice, the spookier the fish got. Finally, the fish were there in good numbers, would follow your jig all over but would not bite. The next time I went fishing the same thing happened all over again. I am a believer in quiet on the ice, away from the crowd, for better catch numbers, flasher, or camera, or not.

Thats what happened to me this weekend...lost of fish marked not many interesting in biting my presentations...

Im poor and old school. Nothing like hand drilling through 30" of ice, just to drop and pray with no flasher or camera
