that is pretty close to how i do it, i just dont run the leader with the weight on the end of it. And the reason that i dont do that, is becuase i feel that if the live decoy can swim free, its going to be alot more attractive to a pike then if its sitting on the bottom, and not being able to swim. This is what i have done for many many years, and plan on doing it for many more.
