huntfish44
I am looking forward into getting into muskie fishing this summer. I have been an avid angler in Minnesota, however I havent taken on the challenge of muskie fishing. I want to start getting ready for the new road I am heading down and would appreciate the knowledge from some avid muskie anglers. Any information on rods, reels and line that would be well worth the money is appreciated. Thanks for all the help!
Rebel9921
Welcome to Muskie fishing... Just be prepared for plenty of knee-knocking, heartbreaks, shock, empty bank accounts, and etc that normally comes along with Muskie Fishing... As to the information you are asking... basically... Everyone here has their own preferences when it comes to rods, reels, lures, lake, weather, etc etc... Its something you have to decide on your own...There are MANNNNNNNNNNY good postings here in this forum that spans back to 2005... Go thru each pages one by one and in no time you will find ALL the information you need to get you started... and theres no harm in getting some extra information on things you didnt think about to ask... Lastly... You would be strongly encouraged to keep Martch 7th-9th open for the Minnesota Muskie Expo in Blaine... Going there probably would set you down the right direction of Muskie Fishing... I was stupid to miss last year's expo, but Im not going to miss this one... only [PoorWordUsage] would have to freeze over for me to miss this year's... Hope this helps! Well stated by Rebel, read back a bit here on rod/reel/lure/net postings then reconsider if you're still interested! Also be prepared for days of absolutely nothing doing, plain and simple. Be prepare for lots of outbound $$$ too. I'd also encourage you to hit the Expo in Blaine after doing the above mentioned post reading, if you're still up for it you'll be hooked after the Expo for sure. Above all, look at it as another excuse/alternative for going fishing and more than anything else, look at it as fun. Chris

AWH
In reading various posts, I get the sense that Rebel likes pink baits. I'm not sure what makes me think that....Aaron
Rebel9921
Aaron... Yep... Pink baits... NEVER leave home without them... So far, my top three colors are: Pink, Black, and Nickel (Both smoke & silver)... but thats just me!*hint* Only if MTO could carry more pink baits, then that would be the only place I'd ever need to order lures from!!!
