Pearson fish house heaters

I just got an old Wheel house and it has a Pearson Fish House heater in it. I was wondering if anybody knows anything about these. I can't find any info about these heaters, is there any way of regulating the heat or getting it roasing with these heaters? Thanks for the help

Is this the one that is anvil shaped? I had one in one of my previous houses and it worked real well. You could turn the heat down by just moving the lever or shut off valve that is connected to the gas line. The only thing that scared me is that it did not have a safety shutoff (i can't think of the right name) so if for some reason it blew out the gas would just keep coming.

yes it is shaped like an anvil. i know it heats pretty good and that was one concern about the shut-off of it also. flame goes out you got staight gas coming in. not that i'll be sleeping in this house at all but just really looking for more information on it. it was made by Alkar Manufacturing Inc in New Ulm Mn. at least thats what the label tells me.

The safety device to shut down the gas in case of flame failure is the thermocouple. I would be very uneasy having a fish house stove without one. I don't know whether there is an aftermarket one that could be installed, but I would sure check.
