Here in lower Michigan we have open water. A very mild winter has brought us 50 degree temps.

I broke the boat out last Whenesday to do some Saint Clair River walleye fishing at night. The water temp was 37 and water was dirty as hell. There were full size trees up to 30 ft in length floating down the river. Needless to say we couldn't hammer it. After putting a good 20 miles on the boat one walleye was caught vertical jigging with a 3/4 oz jig and fin-s minnow. We used such a heavy jig because of the 2.5 mph current. With above normal temps it looks like I may be able to use my boat all twelve months of 2008. You fellas out on the ice are making me jealous, keep it up!
