Google Earth's images would be too old to check this out but Microsoft's program I believe is within two years old. There are many sites that offer it including Ducksunlimited and Yellowpages. Just do a search and go to their map area. Then it's easy to zoom in on the area you are looking for and 100% cheaper than paying a pilot. These are what I use for all my areal shots. Some areas have much more detail as far as how far you can zoom than others, usually more urban. I'm sure you won't get to zoom in as far up there but will still give you a good idea if new enough for you.

Counties typically are updating their air photo base every couple of years nowadays, so depending on what county you're in, there might be updated aerial photography through them. Typically, these counties will either re-sell the data, or provide it via online GIS services similar to google earth, mapquest, etc.

The best bet is to check with your county GIS office, which in most counties is a division of environmental services or landuse planning.

If you're in Beltrami County, it looks like they have their own online GIS browser @

Beltrami County GIS site

Select the newest/latest/greatest imagery under "base maps", but remember that you have to zoom in far enough to display this information.

Tons of local resources available nowadays.

Keep it quiet to keep a leg-up on your friends smile.gif

"but remember that you have to zoom in far enough to display this information. "

You're right. I had a little trouble figuring out how to get the photos to pop up.

Tippman,

which MS site?

weather.com if you zoom in on the radar it goes to 2003? or later air photos, DU's hunting map same thing zoom in and it changes to recent air photos even in Canada, if you have the software DNR's Data Deli and NRCS' Geo Gateway have USDA airphotos I think Geo Gateway has 2006 but you need software like ArcMap or ARCView

All sites stated are very good, but the only problem is that most of the images are at least five years old. For any thing newer you usally have to pay.

Thats not true. there are many places to find images that are less than a year or two old that don't require you to pay.

Northstar Mapper is one that has images as new as 2006. Also has older ones going back to 1991.
