New rod

Just picked up a Jason Mitchell elite series 30M Walleye at Scheels last night. Had a broken tip on my Scheels rod and discovered that the salesperson also fancied himself as an accident investigator. I opted for in store credit and purchased the Jason Mitchell rod. I liked the Scheels rod and also like my Scheels ultralight that I use for open water crappie fishing. Due to how the salesperson made me feel for trying to collect on my full replacement guarantee, I will never buy another Scheels brand product again. I will continue to shop there but if Scheels labels it as their own, I won't be going out the door with it.

I also bought a Jason Mitchell rod I haven't got a reel mounted on it yet but I do like the rod so far. I got the spring bobber one and I think it will make a great hole hopping rod it has large guides that look like they won't freeze up while fishing outside. The only thing I didn't like about the rod was the Made In China sticker on it.

Which store? I've never had an issue with replacement through them. By the way the Jason Mitchell rods are very nice.

This was at the Sioux Falls store. When I bought it in Sioux City last year, they said they had an unconditional guarantee. They said they didn't care if it got slammed in a car door, they would replace it. Sioux City didn't have their Scheels brand rods out yet so I did the exchange in Sioux Falls and now am dissappointed to find that there is an inconsistency in how they back their products. I will be the first to admit that I think it probably got stepped on or something. I don't believe it was manufacturer defect but that is beside the point, at the time of purchase, I was told that the warranty was unconditional.
