GPS from Boat on Ice?

Yellow Dog

I have an Eagle GPS mounted in my boat with the lake chips in it. Wondering...could it safely be used for the winter season and HOW would you mount it?

I have a snowmobile with an Otter for on ice transportation and also use a Vex.

It should be able to work. Warm up time might be the only thing to worry about. If you want to, you can make your own mount. Make a box or something with the mounting bracket in it. Otherwise, the softcases sold at Cabelas or other stores might be big enough depending on the size of the unit. Also have to check and see if they make an ice ducer for that unit.

Try a genz blue box, that way you can use a small 12 volt battery to power it. You need to order a cigeratte adapter for it and also mount a cigeratte plug on the blue box. works great and very portable! I make sure mine doesn't freeze.
