decoy rigging

Recommended Posts

I found a good deal on some used diver decoys so I grabbed them. Now I'm looking at setting them up with line and weights and I'm wondering how many feet of line you put on each decoy and what style weight is the best. I realize it depends on how deep the water is, I'm just wondering in general how much line. Any tips appreciated.

Totally depends on where you hunt as you said. I use regular line and strap weights with about 12 feet on them with a few longer one's for deeper drops offs. If you hunt even deeper water you may need to "long-line" some so you can drop a longer anchor-line down with a heavier anchor. I like the tarred line or the PVC line by GHG or Tangle-free. Don't buy cheap plastic line or thin threaded line.
