Pre and Post-Turnover Pike Tactics

I was wondering if anyone has any insight on how to catch Pike during the pre and post turnover period... basically this time of year. I am guessing that turn-over is starting to occur on some lakes, especially up north. I'm just trying to figure out where the pike head to. Are they all deep now? Do they still relate to weeds, even if the weeds are dying off? They must go back shallow again eventually either way... like during the hard-water season. I'm sure muskie are a totally different story this time of year, but I'm dying to try out my new muskie rod as well... cool.gif

Hmmm... I'm guessing not many fish for pike this time of year. Must all be waiting for hard water and using the tip-ups. Oh, well... I'll keep trying and report back if I figure something out...

I'm Really not educated on pre and post turnover tactics but I can tell you how we caught them last week. We were fishing a small chain of lakes by the whitefish chain targeting pike and bass. In the early morning I was using a mepps and manage a 31 and 33 inch pike and my buddy got a bunch of smaller ones using a spinnerbait with colorado blade. During the evening the fish were smoking the lindy rig and lite northern minnows drifted and trolled along steep drop offs and weed lines. Caught several fish in the 5-10 lb range, hope this helps...
