finnbay
Okay, fungus lovers. What did I find this time?
jonny_redhorse
Ken...resembles a "sweet spine"...kinda tough to ID since one can't see if there's a stalk of any kind, color of the stalk,if there's rings on the stalk...or a chance to examine the gills....I don't think I'd eat it ...neat shroom though
finnbay
There were several of them, and all close to the ground - no stem that I could see. I'm not an expert of any kind, but I could see several of them through the brush, and they formed about 3/4 of a ring about 20 feet in diameter. I've heard of something called a "fairy ring" but have never seen one. Would they look anything like this?
jonny_redhorse
Ken ,I looked again through my "peterson's" guess I couldn't find that particular one...could be just a variation of something in my book....but here's what fairy ring shrooms look like....there's type 1.type 2 and type 3 fairy rings....I have 2 fairy rings in my yard (for years now)...they resemble the shroomsin the photo...not to say other shrooms grow in rings also, because they certainly do... finnbay
Thanks, Jonny. They don't look anything like your photo. Guess I'll have to go back tomorrow afternoon and see if I can get something more definitive. Will post another photo if I think that will help with ID.
