rod holders

I have a guide 2man shack and was hoping someone had a good way of storing about six or seven rods without the standard through them in a bucket and let the get tangled and broken tips.

no idea if this will work it just poped in my head when i read your post. maybe you can take rod holders (like the kind for your boat with the velcro holding straps and mount them to the sides of your sled (be sure on the inside of the sled) ha ha ha
if your try it let me know if it worked. otherwise theres that bag everyones talkin bout

I would seriously look at the Croxton Pond Ice Fishing Bag. I currently have a Ready Rig and can only SQUEEZE 3 rods/reels in it. A buddy of mine may buy that from me and I will then buy a Croxton Pond. Otherwise get some PVC pipe for each rod and mount in it your sled.

BTW... Welcome to the forum.

I have the croxton bag available from this site, but i also bought some pipe insulation, its the stuff you use to wrap water pipes to keep them from condinsating. found at most hardware stores, it's foam and is slit down the side, just cut it to the lenth of your poles and slip the poles inside. work's great, keeps the line's untangle and your jig's are easily removed from the foam when they get hooked. It comes in different diamiter's I got the 3/4" works for me.

"Livebait" for the money the Croxton Pond tote systems are the best bet yet that I have found.

I have one that has been in hard use for 3 years and is as good as new. A very functional and handy system that I would highly recommend to anyone.

They can also serve as a pack rod system for summer use, very handy for light canoe trips.

I bought "the bag" this fall and I cannot how handy it is. All together, I have SEVEN rods and reels in the main compartment. My longest rod is 30". I went to Walmart and bought the tubes to seperate clubs in a golf bag (69 cents). these work well to protect the rods and keep them from tangling. In the side compartments, I have extra line, three tackle boxes and 2 polar tip-ups.

The bags are A-1.

The best method of storing rods is to build a rod box! Mine is 16" x 30" and 4" thick.
This allows you to have it like a suitcase and to have the inside lined with foam. I kepp 3 rods a gaff a tackle tray box and a small radio for entertainment. My rods are never broke even when thrown into the bottom of my otter or when getting into a bombadier on Lake of the Woods. I grab my rod box and vex and get in and go! Oh I also built rod holders out of alum strapping and a short piece of pipe that fold and go into my rod box also!!
Good Fishin

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
