Guest
On Bush Lake in Bloomington all day today - I measured between 6 and 7 inches of nice clear ice, depending on location. It wasn't any thinner at the end of the day than at the start. The snow on top turned slushy, that's all.One thoughtful motorist did have the consideration to scream "you're stupid!!" at me from East Bush Lake Road. Well, I caught a musky and lots of pike, I bet they didn't.Not to say I wasn't uneasy - I checked the ice constantly on the way out, and monitored it throughout the day. I kept waiting for 3 inches to be gone before I knew it.In a few days I will be more worried, but if I was heading out tomorrow to the same place, I'd be pretty confident (but I'd still check it every 30 yards!!)And if I was going to a different metro lake I'd assume it was unsafe unless/until I proved otherwise.ak
