When I went to school there, I fished Rock Creek, which at the time was a blue ribbon fishery...20 miles east of Missoula, I think, puts you pretty close to these waters. Of course, the (Big) Blackfoot is also nearby, but it may only be worth the sentimental value of fishing Norman's waters.

Have a nice trip.

Jon,

Ok, I know exactly where this place is now. It looks awesome, although I have not been there. It is in probably one of the prettiest places in MT. At the foothills of the souther part of the Bob Marshall Wilderness, and in an area known for its wildlife.

There will be fishing in some of the rivers so bring a fly rod. You are within an hour (or less) of several great ice fishing lakes, (providing they are frozen) Browns Lake is known for rainbow and brown trout and is usually an early ice up. Seely Lake, Placid, Jocko, and several others will offer great Pike fishing as well as trout, perch.

This area gets a LOT of snow and snow mobiling will be a main attraction.

Let me know some dates and I will give you a better idea of what where and when as far as ice fishing. They do a big "Pike on Ice" tourny down there, but I think its in February.

You obviously like winter sports going at that time of the year. I think you will really enjoy the area. Seely Lake is a pretty cool little town and its definatley a winter recreation mecca.

Keep in touch!
