jegerjack
The lake that I have ice fished consists mostly pike, so that is what I have fished the past few years. This winter I want to try pan fishing. I live by a lake with a pretty good perch and black crappie population. My question is, in a bowl shape lake do I concentrate in the areas that I have found them in the summer or are perch and crappies found in total different areas when winter arrives? Thanks, JegerJack. Guest
Perch are just plain hard to find and I do not claim to be an expert at finding them so I will let someone else take a shot at that, once they quit biting start runnin' and gunnin' to find them again. I always fish small lakes for crappie and always start in the center of the deepest hole in these small shallow lakes. You'll find them suspended. If that doesn't work for me I methodically work my way towards the shallower weed lines...keep searching and you'll find them in no time! If you have a main lake bar or hump that drops steep into the main basin your almost assured to find the suspended off the bar or hump![This message has been edited by chiro (edited 12-04-2002).]
