check weedbeds, lillypads, and the first island closest to the boat ramp. There's a little bad that you can go into and is usually full of weeds. Great for northerns and bass.

what do you think about fishing the thermocline in 20 to 30 feet of water? or is weed beds still the way to go and what time do i hit what

I have always had my best luck when the water is this warm fishing deep. Not super deep but defianately where the water is cooler. Maybe 20 foot or so. It helps if you can find a place where the weed edge also goes this deep. My personal best day of pike fishing came two years ago in July when we had a stretch of 100 degree weather for like a week. The paticular body of water I was fishing had about a 18 foot weed edge and where ever you could find that weed edge associated with some kind of bottom structure, we were guarenteed fish. I think that we fished from sunup till about 3:30 that afternoon, and all in all we boated well over 40 pike with the average size being 4 lbs. Smallest was just a hammerhandle, but we did manage two over 10 that day. Just remember, with the water as warm as it is, the release needs to be speedy! Good luck!
