Best roto-wing duck decoy?

Recommended Posts

A young nephew asked me which of the new breed of "rotor-wing" decoys is best. I told him you guys would know. How about some comments from fellas who have actually USED some of them. Thanks. grin.gif

Lucky Duck or Robo Duck are both great set up's. That being said they are not as effective as they used to be, there seem to be windows when they work well.

In our area it is right after the date they are allowed to be used and again late season specifically in areas of running water. They are also great for field hunting ducks but remember to turn them off if the geese are coing in as they flare off of them.

Good luck.

I've hunted over a Mojo and thought it worked good. Problem I have sometimes is worrying about breaking them in our canoe after it becomes confined with guns, decoys, and the dog. Now I use two wing thangs which ran me about forty bucks for both. I really have'nt noticed less success from not having a realistic body, I think the movement sucks them in and by the time they know somethings wrong their staring down the barrel of my Mossberg.

Eye balling the Mojo with the folding wings right now. Will never own another with set screw wings. Have come loose even with pliers applied. Anyone know MN regs on using the decoy with flashing LED's simulating rotation? Legal or not? Looking to add a couple wind powered to the spread. Going to get rid of my air lucky ( read as air sucky ). Let's not get this thread going towards a robo vs anti-robo thing. They work... and they don't work. Depends on the circumstances. Choosing to use the appropriate spinner depending on regulations is up to the user.

I've got a cheaper mojo that retailed for $50 but we got it for $25 with a 1/2 off coupon for Gander a few years back.

Just got two wing magic dekes which you operate with a jerk cord and am looking forward to seeing them in action this fall. They have flashing wings and move the water.

I got a mojo and it works fine. But like Big Drift said, when field hunting and geese approaching, take it down. I dont know about the water, I field hunt entirly exept for opening duck which you cannot use the mojo anyway ( right?) wink.gif
