SteveR
I posted this in the experts equipment spot, should have come here instead. I can honestly say I have never seen anything like I did today, my 25 merc shut down last August on Winnie, and with my dad being sick, and passing away I never got back to it till now. Pulled the pistons and you wouldn't beleive it, a fish hook embedded in the cylinder wall, with fishing line wrapped around the crank. How in the heck could this happen? There is no sign of water getting into the cylinder or anything like that, but did ruin a sweet little motor. I am stumped and upset at the same time! Anyone ever see or hear of this before, or why or how this could happen? And if you have a good used motor I am getting more interested as I type. Thanks. JohnMickish
I suppose it could have gotten sucked up into the carburator. That's the only way I can think of. I once tore apart a 350 cid motor out of a corvette that made noise since new, seems it had an extra rod cap nut sandwitched between the wrist pin and the cylinder wall!
