Building a perm for Mille Lacs

I am thinking of building a permanent house for Mille Lacs and I have a lot of questions. I would like to build a 10x20 with room for 4 adults. I will wire it for a generator in the future, but I want to use gas lights to start.

1)I have seen houses on steel skis and houses on green treated lumber. What is the advantage of steel? Do you run into problems with it heating up and sinking into the ice? Wouldn’t this be a pain when you move it? What do you guys recommend for skis? (sizes, materials, etc) How long will green treat skis last?

2)I saw in another post that some resorts don’t like 10’ wide houses and might not serve them. What sizes do they prefer?

3)If I decide to build it this summer/fall do most resorts allow you to build it in their storage field?

4)What type of framing would you recommend for a 10x20 or 8x20? 2x4s?

5)If you have built one, could you list something you wish would have added or left off?

6)I was also thinking of adding a door that was large enough so I can store 2 snowmobiles inside so I don’t have to haul them back each week. Anyone try this before or recommend that I don’t do it?

Thanks for any ideas.
