Guest
I was at the Berkley surplus store this last weekend, they have it...it is also known as fishermans factory outlet.I use the stuff when my uncle pulled it right off the production line for spool ends, it works great BUT, I would not use it with light lures ie. teardrops because with the light lures you'll have a "springy" line, the lure can't pull the line straight and it makes it almost impossible to set the hook! Guest
Chiro.......That has never been my experience with even 4# Fireline. But then, I usually tie on a 2-3 foot section of florocarbon leader first. I've never had it get coiled up on me. Some of my reels have had the same line on now for three seasons and still going strong....you might want to try putting a little more weight on above the jig to keep your line straight. Guest
Thanks for the info! How do you like the flourocarbon and would you ever consider useing just flouro on your setup?
Guest
Chiro......(can you tell I'm having a slow day at work?) I would never spool with florocarbon but have been tying it on the end of my spool lines now for three years. It's almost invisible in water and it's very strong. Just get the knot right. I have one of those brass knot tiers and it never fails. The line will break before the knot does.
Guest
Slow day here too, between patients my butt is parked in front of the compter. I tie the improved trilene knot with mono and a palomar knot with superlines. Is this brass tieing tool something I can view somewhere on the net? Guest
I've used the 8# for walleyes. Very thin diameter but very strong. Almost invisible in the water too. When coupled with a sensitive rod its great. I'm still a mono guy though. Fireline will be on atleast one of my rods though.Good Fishin, Matt.
