Most fish caught on single hook jigs or treble hook spoonss

Jig stick

The last couple of years spoons and trebles
have caught way more fish. BUT, my main
focus has been with these types of lures.

Jigging a spoon and watchin the Vex. My
"other" line is a standard jig and a bobber
that doesnt get the workout the spoon gets.

How about single hooks on spoons? Towards the end of last year I started replacing the factory treble with either a single hook or smaller treble. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like they make the hooks too big (I was getting plenty of hits, but not enough hooked fish). Single hooks and smaller trebles seemed to up my success. (I fish for mainly perch & panfish - don't know if that will hurt your chances for a big boy).

Most spoons will come standard with a treble hook. I typically use the treble hook when fishing these spoons. I've also tried removing the treble and replacing it with a single hook at times too. Both have worked. Single hooks are good with smaller spoons when fishing panfish so then that way you aren't trying to remove a tiny treble from a fish's mouth resulting in injuring or killing the fish. Other times single hooks are better just for the fact that maybe the action changes. Either way the spoon is of the main concern and will do the basic part in catching the fish.

Good Fishin, Matt.
