I would like to hear about the things that make your guys and gals shacks a home.
The reason I bring this up is that I noticed a post where someone was poking fun at us for haveing TV's in the shack. Now I am the type of guy that is complainin' up a storm when I am on open water and some one is blaring a radio out of their boat (sidewinder missle would come in handy for this situation) because I am out there to get away from that kind of thing but, in the sleeper shack I don't want any roughing it. I consider it my resort for the weekend and if my wife is working, the kids can stay out there with me and watch their movies and I still get to fish. Nothing better than jiggin' for "eyes while your daughter sits on your lap with some fresh hot popcorn enjoying a flick.
To keep little ones from plummeting down the holes I have rigged up old fridge grates that hinge down over the holes, they can be put up quickly when you get a strike and with a notch out of one of the grate sections your line never get bumped and you can jig right through them.
What makes your home sweet shack a HOME???

Bigguns,
You made me feel so darn guilty about the luxuries that I just went and ripped the TV right out of the shack and threw it off the deck..was fun watching it hit the ground though...lol!

Last year I was out in a tent, this year it's going to be in a truck camper. Lots of room, heat, and a king size bed cool.gif I will still use the tent for lake hopping and going out before work.

Yeah, I still have to keep the trap in working order so I can chase crappie on our little slab lakes up here but, waking up to bacon and eggs on the ice as you prepare to watch the Vikes ruin yet another post season is something I don't wanna miss. Plus you always get that guy that has had way too many stop by your shack at midnight looking for another beer, or wait, I geuss that's me I am thinking of.

A friend of mine has a nice sleeper fish house on Mille Lacs, approx 12 x 18. He has his underwater camera hooked up to a 28-inch TV that is mounted on the wall. He also has a full kitchen unit; stove, oven, sink, etc. In the corner there is a small bathroom (which we tend not to use when we're fishing, but it is right next to a hole). This year he is talking about getting a satellite dish so he can watch sports. There is even a doorbell on his house. It's pretty fun to go up there once in a while but either the fish are biting or they're not. I still prefer my portable but laying on a bunk and watching the fish take the bait on the rattle reel on TV is fun too.

Good Fishin, Matt.

What I did with my Satelite is as follows: I took a 5 gal bucket and put four lag bolts in the bottom useing concrete to secure the works then my dish attaches to the bolts and it becomes completely mobile. I just wrap the cable up in to the bucket when I leave and take the thing home. I have seen people mount them on the house but, I think the less "advertising" that you have on the exterior the less likely you're going to come out and find your shack broken into or vandalized!

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
