looking for gar

I live in Mason City Iowa, just south of Albert Lea. Can anybody give me any locations of rivers or lakes nearby with a good gar population?

Your post here is bout 200 miles off,try the Mississippi pool 4 or look for something closer to SE MN.

The only place where i have hooked into a few is up on the minnesota river. I would recomend planning a vacation.

if you look on the mn dnr HSOforum under 'fishing' then click 'fish species in mn' and then on the right of screen click 'more fish species'. you will find long nose gar and it will have a map of mn with where they are found. short nose isnt listed but that is what is mainly caught in mn river by mankato, I think.
