River fishing early/late vs midday

Hey all,

I've been fishing the local rivers quite a bit the past few years - mostly on nights with not enough time to hitch the boat and travel, just shore fish the better looking musky spots. To sum er all up I've had pretty poor luck for the amount of time I've put in. So my question is do stained rivers(I fish the Chippewa and Eau Claire) have better midday bites than say evenings? Or is it just my skill or lack thereof? Try to keep the smart arse replies to 20 a day, thanks
