Flaming Coleman

I have an older coleman CLX (that was the self cleaning one). Everytime I use it my buddies laugh cause it always flames up Is there a way to stop this? It's become a joke to see who can light it without starting something else on fire.

When the lantern is cold, this is normal.

The sooner and more you pump it up, and the warmer the generator gets, the quicker this will go away, and the mantles would glow.

Also, are you shrinking your mantles before you light the lantern?

If it flames for more then a minute, then you probbaly have a bad generator...easy fix.

Also, using your lantern with one or more broken mantles will cause your generator to burn out.
