Manager Ejections

Whats your favorite manager ejection? There have been some great ones from Billy Martin to Lou Pinella. I think my favorite will have to be Lloyd McClendon of the Pirates a couple years back after he got ejected he grabbed first base and walked out with it. Very funny.

Sweet Lou's "First base is my frisbie" episode is my favorite. Probaby because it was original.

The rest are just wannabees base flingers. smile.gif I understand there was a minor league manager that appeared to need committed to a mental hospital last season. I missed that one.

Billy Martin's dirt kicking renditions were also ahead of their time.

Know what I hate? A sissy boy manager like the Reds currently have. He doesn't have the guts to make his players play like they care, then pretends to be irate at umpires so he can get ejected and try to keep his job. It's phoney, and he isn't the only one that does it.

Bobby Cox got ousted twice during the weekend. Gardy has had some nice ones. I love it when the managers get fired up and start throwing their hands all over the place and the then the hat comes off. Your outta here!

I only got to one Twins game last year (I live 2 hours drive away) and I got to see both Francisco Liriano start and no shock here- a Gardy ejection. A few years ago, I was living in Kansas City, and went to a Twins-Royals game and a pre-season Vikes/Chiefs tilt all in the same afternoon. Long story short, it was over 100 that day, and in the first inning Royals catcher Mike DeFelice got tossed, went into the dugout, threw aroud 10 bats and every jug of Gatorade and water out of the dugout onto the field. I told my buddy I thought it was intentional because he probably didn't want to squat behind the plate all day in that heat. By far the best ejection, although not a manager, I have personally seen.

As im a Pirates fan the McLendon ordeal when he took first base with him was great.

But that minor league one over the weekend where the coach army crawled to the rosin bag and threw it like a grinade at the ump was one of the best ever. Im sure it will be on you-tube soon...

    • Yeah it was a beatdown
    • Your kid needs to stay with him!👍
    • My kid was eating in Beverly Hills and ran into this guy. Talked to him a bit and wished him luck in the game tonight.
    • 🤔as a recovering machinist!🤣🤣that must make me a recovering welder!
    • As a recovering machinist, I can appreciate that.  If the spec is 0.001 - 0.0015, then clearly the correct measurement is 0.00125, duh…
    • I just figured that it is easy enough to just get a 3 bank so when the boat is not in use I can keep all 3 batteries charged. I have not bough a charger yet, maybe I will give it some more thought. Edit: After thinking this over, with the size, weight, and heat output of the charger (as well as the cost) I think it makes sense to just buy a 2 bank charger, I have a smaller charger i can use on the starting battery when the boat is sitting at home. Forgive me, for i am a retired engineer and I have to obsess over everything...
    • Congrats on the motor!  I think you’ll like it.   I can’t say much on the charger location but I’ve seen them under the lid in back compartments and under center rod lockers.  160 degrees is more than I expected to hear.   Curious why you’re opting for a 3 bank charger with a 24V trolling motor.  Unless you don’t feel you be running you big motor enough to keep that battery up as well?
    • I did buy an Minnkota Ulterra, thanks for the recommendations. I had a bunch of Cabela"s bucks saved up, which helped. Now i need to get an onboard battery charger. Where do you guys mount these things in your boat? The manufacturer I am looking at {Noco genius) says tht their 3-bank charger will run at 160 degrees, seems like a lot of heat in an enclosed compartment? Thanks for any input on this.
    • You're very lucky a troop of Sea Monkey's didn't carry you away.
    • Wasn't terrible at a state park beach. Antelope island maybe.  I wouldn't recommend it as a beach destination tho.  Figured I was there, I'm getting in it.
